About 2048

2048 is a single-player sliding block puzzle game created by Gabriele Cirulli in 2014. Its simple rules and addictive gameplay made it a worldwide phenomenon.

How to Play

1. Move tiles: Use arrow keys or swipe to slide all tiles in one direction
2. Merge: When two tiles with the same number collide, they merge into one (2+2=4, 4+4=8...)
3. New tiles: After each move, a new tile (2 or 4) appears in an empty spot
4. Goal: Create a 2048 tile to win! You can continue playing after winning
5. Game over: The game ends when no more moves are possible

Strategy Tips

• Corner strategy: Keep your largest tile in a corner
• Limit directions: Focus on using only 2-3 directions
• Build in order: Arrange tiles from largest to smallest for easier merging
• Keep space: Always maintain 1-2 empty cells
• Think ahead: Don't merge randomly - plan your moves

Scoring

You earn points equal to the value of each new tile created through merging. For example, merging 4+4=8 gives you 8 points, and 512+512=1024 gives you 1024 points. Your high score is automatically saved in your browser.
