About Minesweeper
Minesweeper is a classic puzzle game that became famous through Microsoft Windows. First included with Windows 3.1 in 1992, it has taught logic and deduction to generations of computer users.
How to Play
- Click to reveal: Left-click on a cell to reveal it
- Flag mines: Right-click (or long-press on mobile) to flag suspected mines
- Read the numbers: Each number shows how many mines are adjacent to that cell
- Use logic: Deduce which cells are safe based on the numbers
- Win condition: Reveal all non-mine cells to win
Understanding Numbers
| Number | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Empty | No adjacent mines - safe area |
| 1-8 | Number of mines in the 8 surrounding cells |
Strategy Tips
- Start in corners: Corners and edges are often good starting points
- Use flags wisely: Flag cells you're certain contain mines
- Count carefully: If a number equals flagged neighbors, unflagged cells are safe
- Look for patterns: Common patterns like "1-2-1" help identify mines
- Sometimes guess: When logic fails, make educated guesses
Difficulty Levels
Minesweeper typically comes in three difficulty levels: Beginner (8x8 with 10 mines), Intermediate (16x16 with 40 mines), and Expert (30x16 with 99 mines). Higher difficulties require more careful analysis and strategic thinking.
