About Korean Word Chain

Korean Word Chain (끝말잇기, Kkeutmal-itgi) is a classic Korean word game. Each player must say a word that starts with the last syllable of the previous word. This version lets you play against an AI with over 35,000 Korean words in its dictionary.

By default the game allows initial-sound-law (두음법칙) variants — a standard Korean word-chain convention. For example, after '경력' (ending in '력'), you can answer with '역사' because '력' regularly shifts to '역' at the start of a word. When this applies, the game shows it as '력(역)'. You can turn this off with the "Allow initial-sound-law variants" toggle at the top of the board for a stricter mode (exact starting syllable only) — your choice is saved on this device. In online matches, whoever creates the room picks the rule for both players, applied for the whole match including rematches.

How to Play

  • Type a Korean word in the input field
  • Your word must start with the last syllable of the AI's word
  • The AI then responds with a word starting from your last syllable
  • The player who cannot find a valid word loses

Tips for High Scores

  • Learn common Korean two-syllable words for quick responses
  • Words ending in rare syllables can trap your opponent
  • Voice input is supported — try speaking your answer
